I'm currently reading Improvement of the Mind by Isaac Watts:

No man is obliged to learn and know every thing; this can neither be sought nor required, for it is utterly impossible; yet all persons are under some obligation to improve their own understanding; otherwise it will be a barren desert, or a forest overgrown with weeds and brambles. Universal ignorance or infinite errors will overspread the mind which is utterly neglected and lies without any cultivation.

We're almost covered!

In addition to getting the roof sheathing and final dormer trusses up, Matt has also been finishing out the garage pad so a concrete contractor can pour that soon.

Yes, kids should do chores. I’ve written before about how having chores is good for kids. But assigning chores to kids isn’t about offloading housework so someone lower on the totem pole does it instead of us. Rather, it’s about leading our kids into responsibility alongside us.

Simplified Organization Group Study Guide and Workbook

Use this workbook with a local ladies' group to make talking shop about all things homemaking totally normal and enjoyable.

From Convivial Circle:

After two years, ladies who have been actively applying what they learn have the opportunity to be promoted into mentor members - with a star by their name and extra perks and meetups. Mairin recently became a mentor, and in her application, she told me about the growth she's seen in the last two years:

I believe I had 5 kids under 5 at the time when I joined in 2022, expecting #6! I felt like I needed goals and systems but really struggled to figure out how to assimilate the business books I'd been reading.
I started with Organize Your Attitude, and that was so helpful. I didn't realize how much my thinking needed to be reframed (specifically the practice of iteration!) in order to successfully implement systems as a young mother, not a college student or typical employee or business owner.

The weekly review is my anchor. It's a Thursday afternoon habit that I would be absolutely lost without now. I just finally finished Community Coaching for the first time, so I feel like I have all my "foundational" things set to build on (vocations, goals, projects, commitments, habits, routines, etc.) and I just review them and iterate as needed.

Growth is possible! Don't look for quick fixes. Instead, start with something small that you know will make a difference. Do it for awhile, then build on that improvement.

Before you know it, two years will have flown by, and you will be shocked at your progress - made one baby step at a time.

See you next week!
