Make a home worth fighting for

Today I'm publishing the episode I had already planned and prepared, an interview with Convivial Circle mentor member, Gracie, on how she uses her Happy Planner to juggle homeschooling life with 9 kids.

But I encourage you to read this timely article by Abigail Dodds today. We mothers who have college-aged sons need to not hold them back. You mothers who have households full of younger children need to know you're raising warriors, not complacent lemmings. All "go with the flow" goes bad places. Your homeschooled children are ready to not go with the flow - but are you ready?

Charlie Kirk: A Man in the Arena

"We must be wives, sisters, mothers, and daughters of valor. We must not grab at the arms of our men, trying to keep them out of the arena. No, we send them out. We put confidence in their hearts. We remind them what they were made for, and we cheer with all our might. We work as hard as we can to make their homes vibrant, happy, and worth fighting for; we feed and nurture their children, we admire their strength, and we put every shred of our trust and hope in the God whose cause we serve. It’s the Lord Jesus who empowers us to never fear anything frightening."

Hi Reader, I mentioned last week about how I stopped paying for a spendy planner when they stopped making a purple-bound option. I know it seems silly, but the reality was that I didn't like any of the other colors, and I didn't want to pay a lot of money for a planner that didn't cry out to me, "Look! I'm yours! Take care of me!" Purple makes me happy. I find it attractive – that is, I feel an attraction, a draw, toward things that are purple. Instead of downplaying and ignoring that oddity...

Hi Reader, I've tried more planners than diets in my life. I've had more success with planners than diets in my life, too. If you're trying to get healthier, you need to stick with a plan for awhile (longer than I usually do) before you see results. Some people do well by doing what they're told, but I do not. Good news: You don't need to stick with one thing for a long time, as directed, to make a planner work for you. You can change things up, experiment, and adapt-on-the-fly. AND you'll...

Hi Reader, For almost two years, I spent over $100 a year on a planner. Sure, I could call it "research" and make it a business expense, but still. Was it really worth the money and the hype? I did use it more consistently than I'd used many things in the past, partly because I invested more money into it, so why not also invest the time? In the end, I realized it was the consistent time, not the fancy paper and beautiful binding that was making the difference. Also, they stopped making...
